Fall Outdoor Activities

Hello friends!

Well, it’s official, I have taken out my fall and winter wear in anticipation for the changing season. With the start of fall being just a few days away, it’s time to begin planning all of the fun fall activities we will be doing this year. Although this fall will look a bit different from most, there are still plenty of fun and safe ways to enjoy the season. I have compiled a list of activities that you can do outdoors to celebrate this upcoming fall. Tune in next week for some indoor activity suggestions and craft ideas!

Go on a hike! I love hiking, especially during the fall when the air feels crisp and fresh. Below is a list of some great hiking spots around Minnesota.

Minnehaha Falls
Stillwater
Taylor’s Falls Interstate State Park
Nerstrand – Big Woods State Park & Nature Preserve
St. Cloud Quarry Park
Banning State Park
Saint Croix State Park
Cuyuna Lakes

Go Apple Picking! Who doesn’t love searching for the best apples to bring home and make goodies with? Keep in mind that masks and social distancing are required during this activity. Below is a list of some apple picking orchards that will be open this upcoming season.

Apple Jack Orchards
Aamodt’s Apple Farm
Apple Tree-O
Deardorff Orchards
Fall Harvest Orchard
LuceLine Orchard
Afton Apple Orchard
Pleasant Valley Orchard
Victoria Valley Orchard

Drive around and take pictures of the changing leaves! This is one of my favorite times of the year, but it also seems like the shortest. Before all of the leaves have fallen, make sure to take some pictures of the beautiful colors and patterns.

Plant bulbs for your spring garden! Although fall typically comes with a lot of yard work, take a moment to plant some bulbs while you’re raking up those piles of leaves. They will be a lovely surprise when springtime comes!

Go stargazing! It might be a bit more chilly at night, but before it gets too cold, make sure to snuggle with a blanket and take a look at the stars. Extra points if you can name the constellations.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you next week!
