It’s August and we are in full swing getting our first month of classrooms planned and new goals set in place. One of the easiest ways for kids to transfer their skills from music time to the regular class room is giving the teachers songs to use for transitions. These are my 5 favorites for getting my ECSE kiddos transitioned to or from music time with while following directions, keeping their bodies safe, and ready to have FUN!

1)It’s Music Time Together– {Tune: The More We Get Together}

It’s music time together, together, together, It’s music time together, at school today.

Sit down for music, together, together, Sit down for music, together today.

2) The Carpet Song– {Tune: Are You Sleeping}

Are you criss-cross, are you criss-cross,

Eyes on me, eyes on me,

Hands in your lap, hands in your lap,

Quietly….Quietly

*Teachers Pay Teachers has a GREAT poster for FREE for this transition song!*

3) Hello Hello, It’s Time for Music

Hello, hello, sit down for music, 3X

Sit down for music today

4) Come on Over & Sit Right Down-{Chant}

Come on over and sit right down, come on over and sit right now

Come on over and sit right down, sit right down today

*This one works great if you march or tap your legs in time with the beat they walk. When they sit, you can continue giving directions like clap hands, stomp feet, tap knees, which makes it an easy transition to your music time welcome song*

5) Stand up Put Your Feet on the Floor- {Tune: If You’re Happy and you Know It}

Stand up put your feet on the floor, stand up put your feet on the floor,

Put your feet on the floor and your carpet by the door,

Put your feet on the floor by the door.
